There’s just one, really:
“When is the new CD coming out?”
Not the simplest question to answer, in fact, because…
Here is the current status of all three projects, with a description of each. As an artist I have many interests and many voices, and each project offers me an opportunity to express a different aspect of my creative life. I like to think I have something for everyone.
1. The Wine-Dark Sea
Back when I had my own studio, I was working on an album called Named and Unnamed, full of carefully crafted vocal music for pagan worship. Sadly, this album is on hold until I can find a suitable engineer and producer with whom to collaborate on the rest of it. In the meantime I am devoting my time and energy to other things. The Wine-Dark Sea, however, contains versions of three songs that have already been recorded for Named and Unnamed, along with two brand-new songs. As a composer, this five-song EP represents some of my finest work to date. It is going to press even as I write this. I will make it available for sale at the Sun Wheel Pagan Arts Festival, and following that, I will put it up for sale in my webstore on July 2. This is a limited-edition CD with only 300 copies, and I will not be making it available for digital sale. If you want your copy, I suggest you snap it up early.
2. Filk and Cookies
I have made something of a name for myself as a provider of music for geeks, nerds, and lovers of alternative culture. It’s high time I made an album just for them. Filk and Cookies is that album. I am recording it at home in a tiny little room, doing my best to create whimsical, memorable recordings with my very limited setup. I think it’s going rather well. I will not publish a release date here on account of that agreement I made with an aquatic gypsy. I will say that the recording is still in progress, and we’ve got some really impressive album art in the works as well.
3. Patience
Patience is in the funding stages. I am going to do this one properly, with a team of good people helping me make it the best it can possibly be. It could be considered the emotional sequel to Thought Experiment, with the same emotional honesty and carefully crafted lyrics, but harder, darker, and more grounded. I am using piano for the first time, and returning to electric instruments in some songs. Those of you who have been with me for some time will recognize a few old Heroincredible songs alongside some tasty new ones. Take a listen to my Spring 2013 Demo under the “Listen & Buy” tab. I recorded that demo at home to help me secure funding for the project. I am waiting for word on some funding, and also, finally, at the urging of a number of my fans, I will be launching an IndieGogo campaign in a few days with a goal of raising $10,000. If my other fundraising efforts fail, it should be enough to make the album with a modified budget, especially if I can raise more by other traditional methods. This will be the biggest fundraising effort I have done so far. Stay tuned.
