Oh, Happy Day!

May 9, 2014

What a wonderful day I have had, so productive and shiny! I practiced material for the Sun Wheel Festival, wrote and photocopied scads of vocal music for my valiant backup singers, listened to a newly remastered version of Filk and Cookies and made notes for the next edit. Oh, and I went to the Unitarian Church of Calgary and handed them a rental cheque for my CD release on July 5, and then gleefully made the announcement. It’s happening.

This is going to be my most fun CD release yet. I am calling it Cookie-Con, and it’s going to be a micro-convention. I want to see everyone’s costumes that they slaved over for the Comic Expo that I missed, and I want all my most loyal, delicious fans to dip their Oreos in white Russians and spray them out their noses in reaction to my irreverent crop of whimsical new tunes.

I want to clarify that this is not Patience, the CD that I funded through Kickstarter. That one is still in production. This is a CD that I started in early 2013, long before the Kickstarter, because I was going insane not recording. It is self-produced from beginning to end and represents me doing the very best I can with limited resources. It is a limited edition release, with only 500 copies, and it is a gift to my geekiest, nerdiest fans, the congoers, the passionate folks who have been so generous with their love, loyalty and enthusiasm as to count me among those artists and creators who deserve their attention and support. This album is for you, and I hope you enjoy it.

I hope you will come join the fun on July 5. The doors open at 6:00, I hit the stage at 7:00, and if I do my job right, I’ll have you laughing and singing along. When it’s done, after I’ve had a chance to talk to each and every one of you, those who wish to stay can pull up your chairs and take part in our filk and bardic circle. Sing a song, tell a story, play an instrument, or just listen and enjoy. And there will be prizes for the best costumes! Admission is “pay what you can”, drinks are by donation. Let’s have an unforgettable night. <3
